Cubic Zirconia Bracelets

By

Bracelets have been around for a long time and may even be the oldest form of jewelry since some of the earliest ones were made of leather or shells. Historically, they’ve been worn for religious reasons, identification reasons, and more recently, medical alert reasons. And of course they’ve been worn for the most common reason of all – because they can be things of great beauty.

While bracelets have been fashioned from just about anything imaginable, they’re most often fashioned from metals and gemstones, mostly the precious and semi-precious varieties. Societies have long valued these types of elements for their long-lasting beauty and rarity. It is also because of this rarity that bracelets of this type are so expensive. It’s not unusual for bracelets to cost from several hundred to several thousand dollars.

…let’s take a look at three of the more common bracelets sold in today’s jewelry market.

Cubic Zirconia Tennis Bracelets

As the story goes, the tennis bracelet originated with an incident at the U.S. Open in 1987. Chris Evert, one of the all-time greats of womens' tennis, was wearing a slim diamond bracelet while playing in the tournament. The bracelet accidentally broke during a match and play was stopped while Chris recovered her diamonds from the court. The local press and papers picked up on the story and in no-time, the term “tennis bracelet” was coined and soon became a permanent member of our cultural language.

Today, tennis bracelets are worn more off the tennis court than on. They’re an easily recognizable type of bracelet because they’re usually thin and adorned with gemstones all the way around. And because they can hold so many stones, they can be very expensive.

But cubic zirconia bracelets help hold the line on expense. It’s still possible to spend a few hundred dollars or more on a bracelet with cubic zirconia stones but that expense usually comes from the gold or silver the stones are set in, not from the cubic zirconia itself. A good quality CZ tennis bracelet can be had for between $50.00 and $100.00

Cubic Zirconia Cuff Bracelets

Cuff bracelets are “big” bracelets; they’re much thicker than tennis bracelets and normally don’t have clasps. Usually they range in thickness from a little less than an inch to about 2 inches. They have a very clean and modern look to them that has made them ageless.

These types of bracelets have most commonly been made with sterling silver and the silver itself has been stamped or shaped into various designs. But more and more, cuff bracelets are being created to specifically hold gemstone designs and cubic zirconia is used frequently to adorn them. CZ is a natural for cuff bracelets because CZ stones can come in all manner of shapes, sizes, and colors. Plus, the inexpensive price tag associated with cubic zirconia makes these bracelets much more affordable. You can expect to pay anywhere from $150.00 to $300.00 or more for a quality CZ cuff bracelet.

Cubic Zirconia Bangle Bracelets

Bangle bracelets are another type of mostly “claspless” bracelet. They’re made of many different materials, for instance, metal, resin, or even glass. Sometimes they’re worn in groups of two or more so that they can knock into each other and produce a clicking sound as the wearer moves.

Simple bangle bracelets are smooth but, as with all jewelry, they can be textured and fitted with stones. And, as with all jewelry, those stones can be cubic zirconia. A simple resin bangle bracelet lightly adorned with CZ stones can cost as low as $50.00 but a metal (especially precious metal) bangle bracelet with CZ gemstones can run $300.00 to $500.00.

Wrapping Up

We haven’t taken the time to discuss Charm Bracelets, Link Bracelets, or Friendship Bracelets but suffice it to say that just about any bracelet you can think of is made somewhere by someone with cubic zirconia gemstones. So if you’re looking for a special gift for someone or even if you’re just thinking about splurging on yourself, a cubic zirconia bracelet can be just the thing. They’re stunning, stylish, and still save you money. All in all not a bad deal.
